Blog Update

by admin Nov 15, 2006 Add comment

You have probably noticed a lack of posts for that last few weeks. On November 1st, the server this blog and two of my other blogs were hosted on went down. This resulted in loss of data, and the last few weeks I have been busy moving all the three blogs (counterjumper, scroller) over to Media Temple, and recovering some of the lost data.

The blogs are all back up and running now, and most of the data was recovered from my personal backups and search engine caches. A few user comments have been lost, and I will try and recover those in the next few days.

You will also notice that the Inner Sanctum link has been removed. I was not happy with Vanilla, the forum software I was using. I will be bringing Inner Sanctum back in a few weeks, once I have installed and setup bbPress.

Let me know if you find any issues with the blog. Regular blogging will resume shortly.

Mahatma GandhiI like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
Mahatma Gandhi

Even though this quote is specific to Christianity, I feel it applies to all religion. You often find that the followers tend to stray away from the ideals set forth by the idols they worship. As time passes by, varying interpretations and beliefs of the original teachings begin to develop, resulting in numerous variations of the same religion.

Loveless Tale of Karma

Lonely Tree
I don’t think I have come across a better explanation of karma, than the objective loveless tale of karma, as found in The Legends of Khasak, a book by O.V. Vijayan. Read this little story on karma, and let your imagination show you both the simple nature of karma, and the complexity that lay in the network of actions of ones karma.

It’s simply elegant how this simple story shows us that karma is not just about one life time, but rather the result of a myriad intertwine of life which came before.

Enterprise Part Deux :: by Akshay Mahajan
Enterprise Part Deux

What we are seeing are not pictures, they are a view of an artist who just happens to use a camera to record moments that 99% of us don’t see. His talent is up there with the best.

– from the testimonials on Akshay’s flickr profile

In this edition of “Worth a 1000 words”, I feature Akshay Mahajan, a young talented photographer from Mumbai, India. A photographer apart, his vibrant images not only captures the beauty within India, its people, and its way of life; but also opens our eyes and mind to the splendor in things once thought unattractive and uninteresting.

J. Krshanmurthy“Truth is a pathless land and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever, cannot be organized; nor should any organization be formed to lead or to coerce people along any particular path. My only concern is to set humanity absolutely, unconditionally free. Man cannot come to it through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, not through any philosophic knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection. “

Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India, is the next stop in our journey across India through Flickr. John W. GardnerWhen Alexander the Great visited Diogenes and asked whether he could do anything for the famed teacher, Diogenes replied, “Only stand out of my light.” Perhaps some day we shall know how to heighten creativity. Until then, one of the best things we can do for creative men and women is to stand out of their light.
