Review: Envirofit Jute Yoga Mat
There was a time when yoga was a medium for one to unite with the universal soul through channeling together ones mind, body, and soul. Those days are long gone, and in today’s over commercialized, desire brimming world, yoga is a huge money making machine, with US consumers alone spending over $3 billion on Yoga related products and services. With that level of consumption , today’s version of yoga seems to have lost it’s soul, and is probably a burden on the environment.
This is where a product like Envirofit Jute Yoga Mat from Gaiam could make a difference. Since it’s difficult to review something tangible , like a yoga mat, without having tried it out, I would like to focus on the environmental aspects of the Envirofit Jute Yoga Mat. Made from jute, a completely biodegradable, bio-friendly fiber through out it’s life cycle and beyond, makes this mat desirable for those who are into Yoga; sensitive about the environment; and concerned about their ecological footprint.
If you are concerned about durability, then that should not be a problem as jute has high tensile strength, and has traditionally been used for making gunny sacks. Looks like a gunny sack has come a long way!
Good Karma: This good karma review was paid for by Gaiam.

“Yoga has lost its soul” some friends have just closed their Yoga Studio. As business owners they found it difficult to reconcile business and spirituality. Well actually they didn’t have a problem it was the instructors, some of them didn’t even want to collect the fees for the class…they just wanted to show up teach and be “Spiritual”. My friends now run a Fitness Center.
